Hello my name is Jose, also known as DJ Sabroso Joe and I was born in Dominican Republic. I moved to New York City and lived there in the 70s. I worked as a freelance photographer for the famous Latin Record company Fania until 1980.  I then joined the US Navy looking for a better chance for a more stable professional career. I became an expert on field Medicine and graduated from the Advanced Radiology School.

 

While in the Navy I decided to start playing music for friends and family and was discovered by a Mexican Radio Station in Tijuana Mexico, (Radio Latina and Z-90).

 

These 2 Radio Stations catapulted me to a very successful DJ career playing in famous club venues in California and to name a few; Mr. O’s, Halli BaBa, Marisol’s Night Club, City Colors at the Omni hotel, Maxi’s, Café Sevilla, Café Cabaret, Sibyl’s downtown, and the most famous of all The Roxy West where the bar scene of the movie Top Gun was filmed. I founded Sabroso Productions a small mobile DJ company in San Diego California.

 

After 15 years in San Diego, I relocated to Washington DC where I have been playing at Zanzibar night club and Club Gardel’s in Baltimore. I have played at many weddings, birthdays, and private events.
